All paint is to be done before carpet installation to avoid dirty boots and shoes on new carpet and to avoid any paint spatter.

3 points 2 years ago. As a contractor i always install the baseboards before carpet. Start running baseboard against inside corners and work toward outside corners. If you plan to install baseboard moulding before adding carpet it needs to be installed 1 inch above floor level to allow room for both pad and carpet.
